I had the most fun on a recent photoshoot for The Clarion Hotel with photographer Neil Danton. It was great to do something completely light hearted to raise awareness of the fantastic deals that are available at The Clarion Hotel, Cork throughout the summer period for Live at the Marquee.
Three of our friends at the Clarion really got in to the spirit of it by dressing up as three of the headline artists for Live at the Marquee. Raymond channelled his inner Elton John while Mark made a youthful Christy Moore and Kasia almost really did become the beautiful Imelda May.
The entire shoot was such fun. It is always great to have a client just run with an idea – it goes to show that if you dare to be different then you will be noticed! And noticed they were in national and local media as well as on the street when they stopped traffic while on the boardwalk!
Thanks too to Neil Danton who can instantly fall in with a wacky idea and bring it to life!

Get thee to the Clarion Hotel this Pancake Tuesday (March 8th) to raise funds for Chernobyl Children International (CCI) and get your pancake fix. Head Chef Tommy Butler will be be going flipping mad from 11am to 4pm on the Boardwalk to raise money for Adi Roche’s charity which has been helping children in Chernobyl for the past 20 years since the nuclear disaster in 1986.
It’s hard to believe that it’s 25 years ago this year but CCI who have raised more than €90million in the past 20 years since its foundation in 1991 continues to do amazing work on the ground to give thousands of children hope for the future.
I recently had the privilege of meeting Adi and two lovely little girls Krystina and Olga last week at a special photocall at the Clarion and they are amazingly happy and self assured children thanks to Adi and all the hard work by CCI. So if you have some time next Tuesday please support the Clarion and treat yourself to a scrumptious pancake for a great cause!

Below are some pics taken on Tuesday evening to promote The Clarion Hotel’s line-up for the Guinness Jazz Festival. This year, they have managed to secure the much sought after and renowned band The Jive Aces. These guys are infectious and are sure to have the people of Cork up and on the floor dancing in to the small hours. They play on Saturday 23rd October in the Pegasus suite and will be supported by the equally energetic Slammers Maximum Jive Band. Tickets are €20 and are available from the Clarion Hotel Cork!

The Clarion Hotel Cork are in early preparations for this year’s Cork International Jazz Festival with an amazing line up for the ever popular weekend 22nd – 25th October. The main acts this year are The Jive Aces and The Slammers Maximum Jive Band on the Saturday night in the hotel’s Pegasus Suite. The Jive Aces are described as the UK’s Number 1 Jive Band and have performed on numerous occasions on TV in the UK and across Europe. They also performed in the world renowned Royal Albert Hall earlier this year. The Slammers Maximum Jive Band are a high energy group that will keep revelers rocking until the small hours of the morning. So get your dancing shoes on and grab your ticket from the Clarion for just €20. A night not to be missed!

CORK BUSINESS OF THE YEAR CELEBRATES 5TH BIRTHDAY

The Clarion Hotel Cork is this week celebrating it’s 5th Birthday as the main tenant in Cork’s City Quarter with special offers in time for Valentine’s Day.
The Clarion’s 5th birthday celebrations will top off what has been a fantastic twelve months for the hotel. In 2009 the Clarion received no less than seven awards including the accolade of Cork Business of the Year.
Kudos Bar has also launched it’s brand new Birthday Cocktail: “Hi-5” which is available for just €5 this Valentine’s weekend making it the perfect solution to spoiling a loved one and remaining on budget!
All departures and arrivals to the hotel on Thursday 11th February will also receive a return stay voucher for a leisure break in the future.
Speaking of the celebrations, General Manager, Charlie Sheil said “It is difficult to believe that the hotel is five years old this week. Each year we like to mark the occasion in some way and this year we are offering customers a special Valentine’s special with our €5 celebratory cocktail. We also look forward to another great year in the hotel.”
